Exponent Bureau : The assembly elections to the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to happen soon in the next five to six months. The delimitation process has already got completed and as per the promises of the central government on the floor of parliament repeatedly, the political Pundits are of the opinion that electoral process to elect a democratic government would begin soon in the union territory. It is pertinent to mention here that union home minister Amit Shah has repeatedly said that elections in Jammu and Kashmir would happen after completion of delimitation commission report and statehood would be restored at an appropriate time. Both these phrases of appropriate time and prerogative of election commission has left the meanings and analysis far and wide which government can easily escape from its political responsibility. Undoubtedly conducting elections is the constitutional duty of the election commission in which government has no stake.
