Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are currently embroiled in a legal suit and they are facing off with each other in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia. For the uninitiated, Depp filed a defamation case against Amber for an op-ed piece she wrote in 2018 for The Washington Post where she called herself a victim of domestic violence. While she didn’t mention Depp, the actor filed a case against her. Ever since several celebrities have come out with their testimonials and views. Now, Johnny Depp’s ex-girlfriend, Ellen Barkin, has also testified against him. She called the actor ‘jealous and controlling’ in a pre-recorded statement.
“HE’S A JEALOUS, CONTROLLING MAN”
According to AFP, Ellen Barkin was testifying as a witness in the defamation suit filed by Depp against his ex-wife Amber Heard. The Americal actress said that she had a brief “sexual relationship” with Depp in the 1990s. Ellen also accused Depp of being jealous, controlling, and frequently drunk. She claimed that he once threw a wine bottle in his hotel room in Las Vegas.
As per AFP reports, Ellen Barkin’s testimony was videotaped in November 2019 and played for the seven-person jury hearing of the defamation case. “He was drunk a lot of the time,” she said. “He was a red wine drinker. He’s just a jealous man, controlling — ‘Where are you going? Who are you going with? What did you do last night?'” she added.
“DEPP THREW A WINE BOTTLE ACROSS THE ROOM”
Ellen further recalled, “I had a scratch on my back once that got him very, very angry because he insisted it came from me having sex with a person who wasn’t him.” She then recounted an incident during the filming of the 1998 movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. “Mr. Depp threw a wine bottle across the room, the hotel room in Las Vegas,” Ellen said. “I don’t know why he threw the bottle,” Barkin said, although she recalled that Depp may have had an argument with friends or with his assistant.
ABOUT JOHNNY DEPP AND AMBER HEARD
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met on the sets of The Rum Diary in 2009 and started dating a few years later. In 2015, they got married. In 2016, Heard filed for divorce and alleged that Depp had physically abused her during their marriage under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Depp denied the accusations and stated that Heard was “attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.” Their divorce was finalized in 2017. Johnny Depp is currently suing Amber Heard for defamation because of an op-ed she wrote in the Washington Post in 2018. In the op-ed, headlined “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change,” Heard claimed that she was a domestic abuse survivor. However, she did not name Depp.
